Tips for Air Travel
Check with the airline to see if a fruit plate or some other appropriate option is offered.
- Always pack your formula in a carry on bag. You never know when your bags might get lost and with them your formula. If you are traveling for an extended period of time, bring enough formula in your carry on bag to last a week. In that case, if your luggage gets lost you will have a week to get back your formula.
- Keep the formula in sealed, original containers. That way you will be less likely to have questions about the formula you are carrying.
- If you can get this information take along the PKU doctor’s name and phone number for the state or country in which you travel. You may not need it, but it’s good to have it for peace of mind.
Most airlines have a two-bag limit and the bags have weight limits. You may need to ship things ahead of time to avoid extra baggage charges.
