What should I do when I'm sick?

A silhoulette image of a person holding a thermometerWhen you get sick follow these steps:

  1. Treat your illness first! Call your health care provider
  2. Be sure you are hydrated and are taking in enough calories, so that your body has energy to fight the illness
  3. Use common sense in treating your self
  4. Take your formula regularly if possible

Why do my phe levels sometimes go up when I'm sick?

When you are ill you might not take in enough calories. If this happens, your body dips into your muscles for nutrients, and muscles contain high levels of phe. This is why your phe levels go up during illness, or even if you do not eat enough calories. You do not want your body to use your “stored” protein found in muscles.
